    High thyroid tsh
    Me , male, 40 years, 260 pounds, diabetic (A1C at 8%) since last 18 months just diagnosed with a high TSH of 10.5 ( T3 & t4 are normal)... can anyone suggest a lifestlye requiring minimal medicine ?

    There is only one lifestyle for a morbidly obese diabetic; I speak from experience! Follow your diabetic diet and lose 80 pounds eventually... add daily exercise. :)

    I wasn't able to do this, and now I'm paying a terrible price. Beware. Get your weight down.

    Your Tsh needs to be followed, because it may it is high and may indicate hypothyroidism - an underactive thyroid. Hypothyroidism can make it very difficult to lose weight and be one cause of high cholesterol.

    Ideally your a1c should be as close to or under 6%.


    I would talk to your doctor or diabetic educator about a healthy low fat diet and setting up a regular exercise routine so that perhaps you steadily lose and maintain weight loss - for example 2 pounds a month for 1- 2 years.
