I have a rash that hasn't resolved after 6 days
I have a rash that seemed to be started from wearing a bracelet and will not go away. Also, I have been taking a new supplement, but not sure if that is actually the cause. My brother was teasing me about scabies and now I am freaking out. I don't know what I should do. The bracelet is silicon and was most likely purchased online (possibly from ebay). My reaction occurred within 24 hours of wearing it and I tested it on the other arm and 24 hours later same thing. It has been almost a week and the rash seems to be spreading up my arms, on my stomach, chest and lower back. I took a supplement and my rash seemed to flare up pretty bad, but I don't know if it is from the supplement (because I have taken it several times before with no reaction) or the bracelet or both or if I have scabies!! My brother is a jerk for freaking me out about scabies! Can you start having a major reaction from scabies just 24 hours after you come in contact with it? I have also been sitting in the same chair that I wore the bracelet on. Can there be residue on my couches and pillows and sheets from a silicone bracelet? Can an allergic reaction spread up your arm like that even after the item/allergen it no longer contacting your skin? Help! I'm going crazy!

It is something that may be not much to worry about as this happens and it takes sometime weeks to get into original place. You should wait for some time to see how this is healing if it does not itches.

Thanks. So an allergic reaction can take weeks for the rash to clear up? I think my brother just got me scared. He loves to tease me. I had the same type of reaction to a detergent that I was using, except I think it went away quicker than this. I'm just going crazy with this allergic reaction. The itching is driving me crazy!

Scabies is caused by mites. If it is Scabies, you could have had them for a while before noticing symptoms. And could be spreading them to others just as they were could have spread to you without anyone knowing. Scabies Causes, Symptoms, Treatments, Prevention

Since it has been going on for over a week and getting worse instead of better, you probably should consult a doctor to find out the type of rash you have. It could be allergic reaction, mites, plant-based, chemical, yeast infection, etc.

You seem to be working your way through finding out what the cause might be. But you may need to broaden the list of candidates. For now stop wearing the bracelet and taking the supplement. As much as you can, do not scratch. Scratching spreads the problem and doesn't really stop the itch.

You mention, in the past, having had a reaction to a detergent. Have you recently changed detergents, bath soaps, perfumes, etc. or worn new (new to you) clothes without washing them?

If the chair has not been an issue in the past, has it recently been cleaned?

Any new pets in the home? Any visiting for the Holidays?

Think through any seemingly minor changes you have made. Even shampoo and conditioners. I have a friend who is allergic to coconut and recently found out that the shampoo she loves uses a higher concentration of coconut oil and it was the cause of her to break out for the past four months. It was leaving just enough of a trace to cause the skin to react and nothing more.

So talk to your doctor, find out if the rash is an allergic reaction or something else. Treat it from there.

Thank you so much. I have changed my sheets, wiped down my couches, covered my arms with long sleeves (in an attempt to decrease exposure), got rid of the bracelet, stopped taking the supplement and cleaned my leather couches. My rash and itching is pretty much gone. Thank goodness. I was going absolutely crazy. At least I know it wasn't scabies because I would still be having issues. Now I have to figure out which one of the items I am allergic to. I think I might get some allergy patch testing done. I am afraid to do it myself and break out again. I was sooooooo miserable!! Thanks again for the info. :)
