I have diabetes and need to control my excessive loss of fat in the body.
    Hello,

I am a diabetic for the last 12 years and am 36 years old. I have been losing weight and thinning down rapidly for the last 2 years. My jeans no longer fit me. My shoulders have reduced and my chest bones are apparently visible. This was not the condition 2 years back. I was a well built man.
I have been taking raw sugar for quite sometime now and want to ascertain if this is the reason for all this thinning down.I have an addictive sweet tooth and have kept myself restricted to only tea with sugar. I don't take much sweets cookies or cakes. I am also a regular smoker.
I want to restore my health back to the normal built. If I seize to take raw sugar completely will it help me regain my health.

    Thanks and regards

Sugar and Diabetes? Bad combo... you have to lay OFF the sugar all together. You need to get assistance of determining a balanced... diabetic friendly diet for you. Simple sugars = bad... complex carbs that break down to sugars slowly (within reason) will keep your blood sugar levels more constant.

I'm not a diabetic but I have family members that are.

Problem is simple sugars enter the blood stream too quickly causing the blood sugar spikes that are the last thing you need. THe complex carbs break down more slowly and thus enter the blood stream slower and that helps maintain a more constant blood sugar level. BUT you have to carefully watch even how much of those you have in your diet.

It may not seem important on a day to day thing... but you have to look at the long term, because that's where the damage will be seen. As you already must know... with kidneys... ussues with the extremeties and circulation and even blindness, being the result of this disease.

You have to take it seriously as long as you have it.

Well, you aren't going to be substituting any of the complex carbs for sugar... Because an example is whole grains etc... essentually other parts of your diet. Sugar itself is essentually empty calories with little nutritional value.

I'm not an nutritionist... or really an expert on the dietary needs of Diabetics. I know some of what they deal with. I would highly recommend getting in touch with a nutritionist, or local support groups which can help you properly adjust your diet to a diabetic friendly one. Your long term health depends on it. And I would not take it lightly. It makes a difference on how many of the side effects you can avoid and for how long if you can keep it better controlled throughout the day. Rather than just at the times you test, or take an injection or pill. And it's the swings that put you at greater risk.

Based on your username... I assume what sort of meals you will eat every day will be significantly different than what I eat. And being able to tailor to what's best within your ethnic tastes in food will make it the most managible. And why a local diabetes support group might get you the best information for the dietary adjustments you will have to make.
