Cola warning: Finally know what must be wrong with me
I have been having problems that I started noticing almost a year and a half ago.
I drank 64 oz or more of Pepsi a day since I was 15 or 16. Around 15 yrs ago I cut down to 24 to 32 oz. A couple years ago I cut back a little more.

I figured out this spring one of the symptoms was adrenaline exhaust which lead to some nerve damage in my neck and hands. This Mar and Apr I would get these panic type attacks and my heart would feel like it was literally being crushed and some other related problems like edgy, sweating like hot flashes, weakness and inability to remember things enough to multi task. It comes like an attack two or three times a day. I have to sit down and eat something and I make a banana, pineapple, coconut smoothie which all seems to help.

I quit drinking soda and I am laid off for the summer (I think something at my work was also causing the problem to be worse). I also started taking an herbal ardrenaline supplement. My heart doesn't crush anymore but I still get a little pain when I get these attacks.

Then a week or so ago Mike Savage and Jerry Doyle did a news report on cola causing paralysis. I looked it up just now.

Drinking large amounts of cola can cause paralysis, doctors warn
Drinking large amounts of cola every day can cause muscle problems, an irregular heartbeat and even paralysis, doctors have warned.

Chronic consumption of the drink can cause a condition called hypokalaemia, in which levels of potassium in the blood fall, in some patients. Symptoms can range from mild weakness and constipation to paralysis.

Researchers said that family doctors should look out for muscle problems in people who drink large amounts of cola, after finding that patients who drank between two and 10 litres a day developed the condition.

Writing in the International Journal of Clinical Practice, researchers from the University of Ioannina in Greece detail cases of the condition, including a pregnant women who was drinking between three and seven litres of the soft drink a day.

"We are consuming more soft drinks than ever before and a number of health issues have already been identified including tooth problems, bone demineralisation and the development of metabolic syndrome and diabetes" said Dr Moses Elisaf, who led the review of research.

"Evidence is increasing to suggest that excessive cola consumption can also lead to hypokalaemia."

All patients made a full and speedy recovery after they stopped drinking cola and took supplements of potassium.

Both the sugar and caffeine in cola can help to trigger the condition, the team behind the study believes.

I am going to look up what to eat and drink and things to do for hypokalaemia.
So far I have read that it causes a potassium imbalance and I have been craving bananas
    A good bit.

If you can tell me anything about it and some things to do for it I appreciate it.

    Thanks

P.S. I have been trying to find some way to get health coverage to go to the docs.
Welfare and every where said I was not eligible. Chiropractors gave me free consultations but will not give me a sliding payment scale option.
They pretty much did confirm what I figured.
Just yesterday I got a charity care for 6 months thanks to when my boyfriend pushed me in the ice and I had to get stitches.
So I am going to go and ask for an official diagnosis.

No Help - I drank regular Pepsi and Coke for years. I don't think I ever drank one glass of water up until about 4 years ago. Never touched the diet stuff though. That stuff is ant poison literally and will do major damage to your system. At least I didn't succumb to drinking the diet poison.

Since I drink nothing but regular coffee and water I have had no problems with my health. I drink only filtered water out of my tap water which is well water. I do not buy any bottled water either. They can add chemicals to the water to "clean" it and actually make the bottled water worse than what comes out of your tap. As long as it is not flourided it's much better than bottled water any day. I would even have to drink soda in the middle of the night - even if it was flat orange soda. I would have to have soda in the morning to "settle" my stomach. It you cut my skin I would probably have bled soda.

I do find that my health has improved tremendously since I totally stopped drinking any kind of soda.

I don't think the soda of today is the same as soda of say 15 years ago. I think they are using a different formula. Tasted a Pepsi about a year ago and it tasted weird to me. It may be me. I don't know.

Glad to hear you've kicked the soda habit. You will live longer and have less health problems.

I agree with all that thanks :)
I know it isn't the same as in the 60's

Also I have been reading labels a lot lately and they use many 'sugar' words to avoid using the diet word. Like Snapples, Sobe and others use sucrlose which can be either or.

I bought a bottle of Regular Fresca to help kick my cola addiction. I tasted aspartame with the first mouth full and sure enough read the label aspartame!

Be very careful not to use any aspartame products. Even chewing gum (yes, chewing gum) has aspartame in it. I read ALL of the chewing gum labels at the store the other day and every single one of them had the aspartame name that starts with a P in it. They all contained this P ingredient (which is another name for aspartame). Yes all of them. The ONLY gum that did not contain this was bubble gum! Double Bubble does not contain this ingredient. That's all that I can chew.

I did read that if you are a heavy user of diet soda and stop using it, if you then ingest small amounts of aspartame you will get a horrible reaction to the aspartame. Michael Fox drank Diet soda for years and developed his disease Parkinson's. Once he stopped ingesting the ant poison he got better but not until all the permanent damage was done. He drank 8-10 diet sodas a day! He is basically the poster boy for not drinking diet soda.

Try drinking iced tea that you make yourself. Or iced coffee you make yourself. Please do not drink the diet sodas as they are much worse than regular soda any day.

    MSG temporarily paralyzes me.
I have been trying to switch to a healthy diet and not eat many every day things people eat cause I can feel it doing something to me.
People wonder why they get high blood pressure, parkinson and other things. I know it is a lot to do with what they eat.
