    Broken Tailbone?
Is there a way to tell if I broke my tailbone without being X-rayed?The injury happen more than 10 years ago,and when I mop floors or vacuum my back seems to almost lock up,and I have to stop and stand completely straight to stop the pain. The problem is in the same area as my tailbone. The pain also occurs when I sit with back bent over in an angle. Is there anything that can be done if it was broke?

The only thing I can think of is going to a chiropractor but I am pretty sure they take x-rays.

If your tail bone was broken 10 years ago it has long since healed up. I had horrible lower back injuries and they healed up long ago. What is happening to you now is that you are putting your lower back into a posture that is somehow making the discs of your lower back grate against either themselves or a nerve. That whole area of the lower back is just chock full of nerves and it does not take much to brush against one and end up in horrible pain. What you're going to have to do is stop doing the things that aggravate your lower back. That means no more moping or vacuuming. Yes, I do these things once in a great while but I try to stand straight up when I do them as my lower back will get into a horrible painful state if I don't. You're going to have to live with the fact that you just can't do these things until you strengthen your lower back. The nerve pain is what is bothering you - you do not have a broken bone. If you did have a broken bone - trust me - you'd know it. You would not be able to sit down without screaming in pain. I know I had my lower tailbone broken and that's the way it was. I had an x-ray to confirm the lower back damage. You are experincing nerve pain in that area - sharp pain. Going to a chiro will only make him rich. I'm sorry I don't hold much stead with chiros.

I got this idea from a magazine. Go to this link: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-5/qid=1169914582/ref=sr_1_5/601-4486323-2759321?ie=UTF8&asin=B000JZ8A1M. Scroll down and click on "features". Read what it says. Then click on "Description" and read what it says. It's sort of stupid...
