    word problems quadratic equations
    A numerator of a fraction is 2 less than its denominator. When both numerator and denominator are increased by 3 the fraction is increased by 3/20. Find the original fraction?

    You are looking for a fraction. That means it is in the form

    You are told that a here is less than b by 2.
    Also, you are told that if a and b are increased by 3, that means they each become (a+3) and (b+3) respectively, it is in fact increased by 3/20.

    From the first part, you have a + 2 = b.

    From the second part, you have



    Can you solve the problem now?
