    Subtract 20 from both sides.

    Multiply both sides by 50.

    Divide through by p.

    1. Factor x on the right side.
    2. Divide by something so that x becomes alone.

    9f+18=f x x + 2x
    8f+18=x + 2x (3x)
    8f+18/3 = x
    / = Divide

yomisters - first, please note that this is an old thread. And second, you have an error - you wrote "f x x " in the first line, by which I assume you mean "f times x," but then treated that term like it was "f+x" by attempting to subtract f from both sides. The correct way to do this (as suggested by Unknown008) is to treat the right side as fx+2x = x(f+2) and the left hand side as 9f+18 = 9(f+2), and simply divide both sides by (f+2). This of course only works if f+2 is not equal to zero.
