    Scientific notation and conversions factors
I am having a hard time with conversions in my class. The basic are killing my grade. I don’t understand scientific notation very well. Ex. If you are looking for the density of something given in N how do you know to convert to kg then to g then to / by the volume to get the grams per cubic cm

I know this is in the book but I can’t seem to understand it. Thought that another method would help

Hmm, I'll give you the method for speed, from km/h to m/s.

    You know that 1 km = 1000 m,
    1 h = 3600 s.

    Then, let's convert 36 km/h into m/s.

You see? Just replace the 1 km and 1 h by their corresponding equivalents. Need more help? You can post the question with which you have a problem, then post what you tried.
