    (x+3) (x-4) = 0

One or both factors must be equal to 0

    x + 3 = 0 gives x = -3

    x + 4 = 0 gives x = -4

    Either x = -3 or x = 4

    SO, QUESTION COULD BE:

Find a number x such that its value can be either -3 or 4.
