    Statistics
Owens Orchards sells apples in a large bag by weight. A sample of seven bags contained the following number of apples: 23,19,26,17,21,24,22.

    a)verify that s (x-sample mean)=0

This is what I'm coming up with, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Help please

    (23-21.7)+(19-21.7)+(26-21.7)+(17-21.7)+(21-21.7)+(24-21.7)+(22-21.7)= -1.2

I've tried rounding the 21.7 to 22, but I'm still not coming up with 0

Yes, you should be using the complete mean value of 21.71428571 and you also added and subtracted wrong in your statement above. The answer to your statement is actually 0.1

I believe I see my mistake now, is this correct?

    ( 23-21.714285) + (19 - 21.714285) + ( 26 -21.714285) + ( 17 - 21.714285) + ( 21 - 21.714285) + (24- 21.714285) + ( 22-21.714285)=0.000005=0
