    *double replacement, single replacement, synthesis, decomposition? And balance*

    a. calcium carbonate yields calcium oxide plaus carbon dioxide

    b. nitrogen plus hydrogen yield ammonia

    c. sodium plus water yield sodium hydroxide plus hydrogen gas

    d. lead (II) oxide yields lead plus oxygen

    e. copper plus silver nitrate yields silver pluss copper (II) nitrate

    f. potassium chlorate yiels potassium chloride plus oxygen

    g. calcium chloride plus silver nitrate yields silver chloride plus calcium nitrate

    h. oxygen plus hydrogen yields water

    I. sodium bromide plus chlorine yields sodium chloride plus bromine

    j. zinc nitrate plus sodium phosphate yields sodium nitrate and zinc phosphate

    There is no such thing as double replacement or single replacement. They are called double displacement and single displacement.

    Your answers would be easily answered if you knew what each one was so here is a short summary.

    Double Displacement
    AB + CD ----> AD + CB

    Single Displacement
    A + BC ----> AC + B

    Decomposition
    AB ----> A + B

    Synthesis
    A + B ----> AB


    Now that you know what each one does all you have to do is write the equation of each of your quesitons and check which one it is using this guideline.
