Medicine has a close link with biology. Many processes that take part in the body are included in Biology and Medicine. Reproduction of cells for example is something you learn in Biology and you apply later in Medicine for the cultivation of unidentified bacteria (for example) so that you can identify them more easily.

Knowing the different systems in the body also helps. Having a good knowledge of how the human body works will be definitely an advantage in Medicine.

However, many people can apply for medical sciences without needing a Biology Main at A-level (that's my system, you may be having another). This will however include a sort of 'catching up' class that you usually do in Biology at the A-level.
