    I'm pretty sure he does mean scientific notation. To do so it kind of depends on the calculation of the question so how you got the number 2,377.051. The reason is because we need to know how many decimal places we need in scientific notation. Anyhow lets say for example you needed one decimal places then you move the decimal spot 3 to the left and you get 2.4 x 10^3 since you moved the decimal spot 3 to the left you have to have exponent 3.
