    Rounding to the nearest 1/2 inch and inch
    Sarah was asked to round 4 7/8 in to the nearest 1/2 inch and to the nearest inch. Her answer was the same. Explain why Sarah is correct.

    Would it be 5 inches. :)

    Hello skateboarder

    Oh glorious decimal system, where this is much easier to see !

    half inch = 4/8 inch
    hole inch = 7/7 (0/8) and 8/8 inch

    half spacing between half inches is 2/8 and 6/8
    half spacing between full inches is 4/8

    4 7/8 --> nearest half inch = 4 + 8/8 = 5

    4 7/8 --> nearest inch = 4 + 8/8 = 5
