    Properties of Rational Exponents.
(5 2/3)^1/2 is the problem 5 1/3 is the answer and I've checked a ton of sites and examples in the book and none of them tell me how to get that answer, they all come out either 5 1/6 or 1.709975. If anybody knows how to do this right could you please tell me??

Is that the square root of five and two thirds? If so, write it as 17/3

The answer is not five and one third or any of those others listed.

I think I see what's going on. I think what Kylie meant to write is:

which would be equal to 5^1/3 = 1.709975...

Kylie: whenever you have you multiply the exponents to get . Here a = 2/3 and b = 1/2, so . Hope this helps.
