    How to set up an equation
    I'm not sure if I am posting in the proper place. This is for something at work but I couldn't find a fitting category. My question is this, in my equation 169=96.6%. I am trying to figure out what my number would be at 97% as well as 98%. This may or may not be unnecessary information, I know that 99% is equal to 425 in my case. The answer would be great but I was wondering if someone can tell me how to set it up in the first place so that I can do it with different values. And finally if I were to look in a math textbook for say high school, what section would this be under? I would be most grateful for some help.

    96.6% x = 169
    x = 169 / 96.6%
    x = 169 / .996
    x = 174.9482402

    174.9482402 x 96.6% = 169
    174.9482402 x 97% = 169.699793
    174.9482402 x 98% = 171.4492754
    174.9482402 x 99% = 173.1987578

    This part is not at all consistent:

    Are you suggesting that 99% of 425 is equal to 169? Not even close. Please rephrase your question, because as written it make no sense.

    Where did the 425 come from?

    Maybe a little background on the nature of the equation would help us help you.
