    The formula is

Number of moles = [Mass of sample (g)] / [Relative molecular mass (g/mol)]

The RMM of calcium carbonate is 100 g/mol.

    The mass is therefore 100 (g/mol) * 5.66 (mol) = 566g.

You should know the mass of CaCo3 and that will be 217 g.
So when you convert it it would be:

    In 1 mole=217g
And we have 5.66 mol so far

You have to do is 217 times 5.66 you get=1228.22
Since we started by three significant figures your answer would be in whole number and that would be 1228 mol.

    This is totally wrong.

    1 mol of (NOT CaCo3) has a mass of 100 g, NOT 217 g

    5.66 mol of CaCO3 will have a mass of 566 g

NOT 1228.22 mol, which isn't even a mass. This is just plain wrong, you start with 5.66 mol and end up with 1228.22 mol?
