    I don't understand how to use projectile
    A cat chases a mouse across a 1.3 m high
    Table. The mouse steps out of the way, and
    The cat slides off the table and strikes the floor
    1.0 m from the edge of the table.
    The acceleration of gravity is 9.81 m/s2 .
    What was the cat’s speed when it slid off
    The table?
    Answer in units of m/s.

    First of all consider what happens vertically.

    Initial vertical speed of cat = 0m/s
    g = 9.81m/s2
    distance the cat fell = 1.3 m

    use the formula d = ut +1/2 gt^2 you have all values except t so solve for t.

    1.3 = 0 x t + 1/2 x 9.81 t^2
    1.3=4.905t^2
    t^2=1.3/4.905
    t=square root (1.3/4.905)
    t= 0.515 seconds

    now consider what is happening horizontally
    the cat moved a distance of 1.0m in a time of 0.515 s

    so v = d/t
    v= 1/0.515
    v = 1.9 m/s

Projectile (sort of) [ 1 Answers ]

a test rocket is fired vertically from a well. A catapult gives it initially velocity 80.0 m/s at ground level. Its engines then fires and it accelerates upwards at 4.00m/s ^2 until it reaches 1000m. At this point its engines fail and the rocket goes into free fall with an acceleration of -9.80m/s...

Projectile - what angle? [ 15 Answers ]

Hello All, I have a question on projectiles, but I am unsure what formula I need to use to calculate the required angle. A projectile leaves the nozzle at 14 m/s, at what angle should the nozzle be so that it hits the nearest edge at the top of a wall 0.7m high with a horizontal distance oy...
