    Option 1 : take 500,000 cash immediately

    Option 2: take the prize on march 12 , if it is calculated by tripling the amount each day , beginning with 3 $ on march 1

    a) use a power to represent the amount on march 12

    b) use your calculator to calculate the amount on march 12

    c) which option is the better deal for the lottery winner ?

    d) if the offer were continued on what day would the amount be greater than 1 million dollars?

    Happy to help you with this, but plase show us your attempt first. Part (b) shoud be no problem - what do you get using your calculator for the value on March 12?
