I'd then tell him, "Oh, goody! I've been invited to go to a Christmas party as a single the same evening, so now I'll be able to go and won't have to worry about what to do with you."

If his company Christmas party has always been couples, and suddenly its not, and you don't know why, call another wife who's husband also works with your husband, and ask her if she knows why things have changed.

If it is a party that is going to be the same as the party was last year, then I would personally go.

If your husband doesn't like the idea, tough tomatoes.

I agree with Jake and Wondergirl.
I would check with someone see if they have changed policies about christmas party. If not then, I would find out where, when, and what time. Get myself all dolled up and sitting on Santa's lap here I come!! HO,HO,HO Something smelling so fishy in December isn't good!

Almost all company Christmas parties involve the spouses too, so I would definitely be suspicious.

Asking someone else who generally attends is a good idea. If you do end up going, keep your eyes and ears open while you're there!
