Cannot get on the Web Media Disconnected State
Media Disconnected State can not get online
I've been having this problem for a couple of weeks now I cannot get on to the internet (wireless) and I cannot get the Media to say connected. On the wireless connection it says it is connected sometimes and sometimes it has the yellow ! And says limited connectivity. In the Command Prompt when I type ipconfig it says Media State: Media Disconnected. The router is working fine since we have another laptop that connects perfectly.
    Windows XP
    I have Verizon Wireless, US
    Router is Westell D90-327W1506
    Dell Inspirion 1200
Dell Wireless 1350 WLAN PC card
    I connect wirelessly

Not sure what other info you need.

Here is a little more info about what has been going on:
It all started after getting a virus. I had the Win32:Rootkill and Win32:Trojan. They are cleared out of the computer now.
I have reset the winsock and the ip config in the cmd prompt which has not worked.
Originally the IP address was missing/said 0.0.0.0 but now it has one. I do think that this is a problem though but am not sure. It definitely is not the IP address that it use to use. It has the other laptops IP address. I have no idea how to change that.
I also tried to ReInstall the TCP/IP and it says it cannot find the driver.
Thank you for any help you can provide

The 169.x.x.x autoconfiguration address that is assigned to the wireless adapter is an "address of last resort" that gets assigned when you haven't statically configured an address or an address could not be obtained via DHCP. It won't work. Do you know what addressing subnet your router is using? The factory default address for that router model is 192.168.1.1, so it's probably 192.168.1.x / 255.255.255.0. Any DHCP assigned addresses should be in that range.

Verify DHCP and TCP/IP is working by connecting the PC WIRED with a cable to the router and confirm the Intel PRO/100 adapter gets an address assigned from the router and you can web surf.

Posting the results of "ipconfig /all" done on your laptop would be helpful.
