I would suggest you blog about what you're passionate about, and you will be able to reach an audience. If you build a blog about just whatever, it may be hard for you to maintain your own enthusiasm for it. You can either go for a wide audience, or go for the "long tail" in your SEO efforts (i.e., write for a specialized audience, like writing a blog about one specific video game or author's work).
