    Outlook deleted files
When I empty my outlook delete file, where do the files go? They don't seem to go into my main recycle bin. I'm trying to clean up my computer for more space available.

    Hello vhoiland

Deleted files are not precisely deleted, but are removed from view (though there are many software programs that can make them available again.

'Deleted' files space can be used for storing other data. They are not counted as 'used' space. And when you clear and compress the used partition from unneeded and unwanted files they often are removed.

However : if your goal is to remove deleted files from your partition permanently, you have to use special software to do so.

The messages are removed from your view and the bits occupied by those messages are released to be written over by new data. If you delete a large amount of messages and close Outlook you should see a smaller PST filesize.
