    Internet will not open
    I am having trouble with opening internet explorer. Sometimes it opens and other times the screen starts to open and then just freezes. When I try to close the blank screen and start again I get a "program not responding" message. Any suggestions?

    What version of IE are you using? What operating system? Did you recently upgrade your browser through Windows Updates? There are some problems with IE8 (the newest one) that are starting to be reported.

    If you can't get IE to work and if you have another browser installed on your computer (such as FireFox or Chrome) - one option you have is to download the IE installation file using an alternate browser and try repairing your installation of IE with the file. Hope this helps!

    Thanks for the quick response. I have windows XP and I think I have either IE 7 or 8
    I am at work now so I will check when I get home.
    I don't have another browser installed - and not being too computer savvy I'm not even sure how to do that.

    Don't worry about the alternate browser, call that a last ditch effort for now. Sometimes programs/websites add functionality to IE (sometimes without you knowing!) that doesn't always work out so well. One other simple thing to try is to right-click on the IE icon and select 'Start without add-ons'. If that seems to work then your next step is to find out which 'add-on' is not playing nice.

    Of course there is always the dreaded viruses - do you have anti-virus software such as Norton/McAfee etc..

    I will try that - thanks. I do have Trendmicro antivirus software.
