    MSN messenger opens fine. When I click on a contact I get;

    URL. About blank

    Try updating to Windows Live Messenger. Unless you are using the web-based version of MSN. Then I would make sure you have the latest version of Internet Explorer (should be able to update through Windows Update, assuming you are running Windows).

    If updating to Live Messenger does not work, please post back with more information. Please tell us what version of Windows you are running, or if you are running a different OS what it is.
