I cannot access Google or search on Google (Only Google)
Google has been my default search, no problems. My browser is the latest Firefox Beta 3.5 Beta 4 file version 4.42.0.0. The issue started over two weeks ago under the Beta browser. The issue is now, I canít use Google search or just about any site that is a Google site. I put in a search item and/or try to navigate to the Google site and Google times out or I am told that the server has reset, this happens all the time, other Google sites take a long time to load, or they time out also. I can use gmail and Google maps and I have no problems searching with other search engines. When I try to ping google's address, (Google.com) it times out. Even when using other website that use Google to search their sites the same thing happens. There has been no Google outage and my other PC uses Google with no problem. (It uses Safari) I can use my gmail and Google maps with no problems, it only occurs on this machine (HP Pavilion dt7t) running Vista home premium sp1, 64bit. I just donít know what kind of setting has been changed to only effect Google search. I have done a system restore and it has had no effect. I have done a complete virus and malware scan, nothing has shown up (I am using Comodo and Avast and Superantispyware And, of course, there is no way to get any help from Google. With some online tech help I have tried the following: gone to the Hosts file and found no problems, downloaded and used "Hijack this" and sent the log file to online help (No problems) IP Config /release, /flush/ renew (No change with the issue, netsh winsock reset and netsh int ip reset reset.log, ip config /all, (no effect) I also use Opendns configured to use their DNS servers (more secure) and I have pinged using both site URL and IP addresses (info below)

When I pinged Google before I used 74.125.127.99 which got me to googleís query page, when I put in a search item, the assigned search then timed out.

This next time I pinged Google and it opened 208.67.217.231 with 32 bits of data and it looked like this:

    Reply from 208.67.217.231 : bytes=32 time=28ms TTL52
    Reply from 208.67.217.231 : bytes=32 time=15ms TTL52
    Reply from 208.67.217.231 : bytes=32 time=17ms TTL52
    Reply from 208.67.217.231 : bytes=32 time=29ms TTL52
    Ping statistics for 208.67.217.231:
    Packets Sent = 4, received = 4 lost= 0
    Round trip Min=15ms, Max =29ms, Ave =22ms
    I still could not search.

The ping to the IP looked like this:

    Reply from 74. 125.127. 104 : bytes=32 time=196ms TTL238
    Reply from 74. 125.127. 104 : bytes=32 time=120ms TTL238
    Reply from 74. 125.127. 104 : bytes=32 time=243ms TTL238
    Reply from 74. 125.127. 104 : bytes=32 time=105ms TTL238
    Ping Statistics for 74. 125.127. 104
    Packets sent =4, Rec= 4 lost 0
Round trip times Min =105ms, Max 243ms, Ave =166ms

I am also including this first "Hijack this" log file, maybe it will help. (see below)

Adblock, Autopager, Fission, Ghostery, LinkExtend, Skype ext. Sxipper and WOT

Plugins installed: Adobe, Java, Mozilla default, Shockwave Flash, Silverlight, VLC Media player, Windows Presentation Foundation

I turned off windows firewall and am using only Comodo (This fire wall has no exceptions put in by me and is blank) which has an Antivirus also, I did install Avast a day or so ago and I use them ďon demand onlyĒ.

I have dumped all cookies from Firefox and Firefox is set to dump them when closing and has been. I did the same with IE8 (which I donít use, except when I have to) it too is set to dump on closing. I search for %userprofile%\Cookies and nothing showed up.

Well folks, good luck to you and me.

    did you install superantispyware?

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: !SASWinLogon - C:\Program Files (x86)\SUPERAntiSpyware\SASWINLO.dll

if not, could be malware - if you did install this, have you tried to use IE in vista to see if same thing happens?

Sounds like a clear case of security settings misfire. Go to preferences and security and set everything to minimums, then try again.

With your antivirus software and your malware, spyware programs; make sure they are updated to the latest definitions. Then boot up in safe mode and run all of them again to see if they pick up anything. If this doesn't work you can try to flush the dns by going to start/run/type cmd, then type flushdns and hit enter. Then reboot your system and see if you can get to Google then.
