    Wood Burning Fireplace Repair
    - I bought a home that has a fireplace insert with an added on propane gas log appliance. I would like to burn wood in this fireplace and would like to know how to seal the hole where the gas line entered. The manufactuer has gone out of business but a company that used to sell the fireplaces told me the model # of my fireplace is capable of burning wood since it has a flue damper.

Refractory cement should do it but I have an idea. If you have gas already there just remove the fake logs and install a gas ignitor insrtead. You use the same hole, no plugging and you get a better lighting fire without newspaper or kindling.

I have a wood burning fireplace where the bricks have come a little loose and also there seems to be pieces of mortar that are falling off the back from where it had been repaired. How to I fix this myself.
