Convert tub area to walk in shower II
I want to convert the tub area to a walk in shower. Since I plan on tiling the floor anyway how difficult/expensive would it be to just tile the whole room AND shower area and leave the drain where it is (sort of making the whole room a shower)?

It's a small room with only a toilet and shower in there.

As you can see I am in Japan, the bathroom walls are kind of an interlocking plastic, with interlocking ceiling to the walls and the walls to the floor to keep water from leaking behind, they are sealed too, everything is in one room and we do not use a shower curtain, the rooms are already small but the curtain would make it feel so much smaller. See if there is a prefab type room available, probably custom fit, tile is high maintenance and the grout gets moldy.

I'm not sure where I can buy a "room". I like the idea though. I agree that tile is high maintenance.

What do you think is the most inexpensive way to convert our tub to a walk in shower? The opening is 77" (a bench is at the end of a standard size tub). I know I have to break up the porcelain tub. I also need new shower fixtures for the old leakey American Standard faucet. It's for a lake...

Convert shower to soaking tub? [ 8 Answers ]

I have 2 bathrooms, both with showers, and no room to convert either one into a tub. So I thought about building up the wall on one and converting it to a soaking tub. The shower is square with 3-sides wall, ceramic tile. The new wall would be built onto the front with maybe a low seat added inside...

I am in a condo with a 6 inch concrete floor and have removed the tub and notice the existing drain is a few inches off the floor whereas the drain in the shower base is about 3/4 of an inch from the floor and any drain asemblies I have seen are about 5 inches deep which means I have to cut into...

Convert bath tub to shower? [ 2 Answers ]

We are only renting, so no major changes can be made. Is there a product that can easily convert a bath tub faucet to a shower head? I'm hoping maybe there is something that could fit inside the spout on the faucet so it could be diverted to a shower attachment. Thaaaaanks a million!
