Yes, I saw your other post regarding tiles on ceiling. Good you clarified where you wanted to put them. It changes the answer. Because of the environment in a shower, dampness, heat rises, taking the moisture with it, it would be best to use paint instead of tile. I have never seen tile on a ceiling before.

After deleting the duplicates you put up in other pages, ( Harry! Did you think you would get a faster answer this way?) I'm with Tick on this. It isn't necessary to completely tile a shower. Mine is only tiled up 5 feet from the shower floor. Besides, It's cheaper to paint then to tile. Good luck, Tom

Tile is used on ceilings all the time. It's use is a decorative decision just as is paint. The "wet area" is only defined as that enclosed by the shower curtain/glass and up to the height of the shower head.

Conversely, "Because of the environment in a shower, dampness, heat rises, taking the moisture with it, it would be best to use paint instead of tile," are all the reasons TO CHOSE TILE; they will never be affected be heat and dampness. Only residential steam showers produce enough heat and steam to affect the ceiling and unless it's a self contained unit, tile is the required covering.
