    Any Concerns installing a Floating Floor?
    Continuing the Kitchen renovation project I would like to install a click-on Floating hard bamboo floor over our old vinyl floor. The vinyl has some chips and small 1/4" holes in it around the base cabinets.

    1. What suggestions do you have for me to use to patch those holes?

    2. What is the proper underlayment barrier to lay the floating floor on?

    When I installed a click floor, I was advised to put down a sub floor of maghony plywood. On top of that goes a moisture barrier. My original floor was in bad shape as well because our dining room used to be the kitchen in a 40s era home.

    One bit of advice, never wash with a saturated mop; always damp mop, extremely 'damp' mop.

    I admire your choice bamboo. Very expensive here in Canada.

    A couple of choices for filler... auto body bondo is quick and easy, and Fixall would be my second choice (both are available at Home Depot)

    If your vinyl is sound, flat and level it might not need an underlayment. I installed a click-together bamboo floor in a small kitchen and use resin-paper over the vinyl. One of the most important things to remember is that is will expand and contract and should have space around the perimeter for expansion. The directions that came with the product should include this information.
