Is there a burial policy for an 86 yr. old woman?
My sister has had Power of Attorney over my Mom. Now, she says she is disabled and unable to look after Mom. I found out that there is no life insurance or burial policy. I myself am on disability. How can I pay for her burial? She will be buried with my Dad at a military cemetery.
    Thanks

SS pays a very small amount (around $200) - an undertaker may allow you to make payments. Is her grave purchased (or whatever a military cemetery does)? The cheapest way is cremation, by the way.

You are not responsible for the funeral costs. The estate is. Does your mother have any money?

Is there a new P/A running to you?

The P/A dies with your mother so that does not determine who pays for the funeral.

If you mean can you buy insurance now, no; any such offer 'can't be turned down' is a scam.

Now I'm confused - the question is "is there a burial policy for an 86 year old woman." I got a disagree/reddie - and a thank you.

What is the question? CAN you get insurance, IS there insurance (which is the way it's posed) OR who pays for the burial?

I find that the rating system is buggy. If I double click fast on yes, I get a box asking me to comment on why I disagree. So I always back out. I've always wanted to report it but don't know where to.

Is there a policy ? We don't know, if there is one, check though her belongings, look for old policies, I know my dad had one that he bought in 1925 and it was paid in full by 1950 and we did not know about it , till months latter when cleaning out his boxes of things.

But if there is no policy, no they are too old to buy one now.
But I will assume the lot is already purchases since you wish to bury them by husband. I will assume that most likely there is already a double tombstone.

The main thing is not to go past a budget if picking out the funeral, either buy burial clothes at a local discount store, or use something they already own. Check about very inexpensive caskets and in many places there is no requirement for a vault.

Next it is not how YOU, but how all of you ( you and your sister ,and other family)

Thanks to all for your comments. My Mom will be buried with my Dad at a military cemetery. She is the spouse of a deceased veteran. I am going to contact the VA for information on burial.

I'm still not clear what you were asking about - the funeral costs, insurance of some sort or something else.

Did you get an answer that works for you?

Yes, VA is the place to go for burial info!

Sorry you're going through this - it's hard enough to know you are going to lose a family member.

How does the Constitution address policy making vs. Policy implementation? Thnxs<3:) [ 2 Answers ]

I'm thinking it has something to do with Congress versus the President. Like one does the policy making and the other engages in policy implementation. But I don't know which one is which :/ Any feedback is appreciated! Thnxs:)<3
