    Left turn at a permissive traffic signal intersection
    "the following accident happened in lees summit, mo. I approached a three way intersection, two lanes east, two lanes west, one lane heading south. I was heading west, approached the intersection to turn left on, the traffic signals are permissive, I had a green circle, as I waited for traffic to clear, the light turns yellow, still more cars continued to go thru. finally the lead car heading east in the right lane stopped (light turned red), I started my turn since I was already in the intersection, another car that was in the left lane heading east, aprox 75 ft or futher behind the car that did stop, ran the light and hit me. Since she ran the light, two wittnesses stated she ran the light, the liability would be on her correct? "

    Correct. Once the light is red you are not permitted to enter the intersection. So she is at fault for running the red light, You are allowed to turn left because you are already in the intersection waiting for traffic to clear. I trust the police accident report reflects that 2 witneses said she ran the light. Did the cops give her a ticket?

    They didn't tell me, they said the wittness said she ran the light and that's all they needed to hear and said I'm free to go so I took off (they did give me her name and insurance info). The police also gave me a website where apparently I have to pay to get the police report. I looked at the website and there is no report yet. The website stated the report can take 72 hours from the time of the accident. I will let you know once I get the report. Thanks

    Do NOT wait for the police report. You should have called her insurance carrier IMMEDIATELY. Do so now. Tell them the circumstances and tell them a police report has been filed.

    You have reported the accident to your insurance company, right? Be sure to pass the info about the police report to them.

    It may not be necessary to report this to the OP's insurer. Since the other driver is at fault, the OP can submit a claim directly to the other driver's carrier.
