How to file an interstate unemployment claim
I worked for a company part time for almost 2 years in Ny. I was terminated for time and attendance in 2007. I moved to Ga in 2008. I filed for Unemplyment Insurance in Ga. In 2009 and was denied. I was recently told that I needed to register with Ga. Dept. of Labor but file online for Ny? Can anyone clarify this for me? Is there a time limit on when you can file as it has been 3 yrs now but I am still unemployed? Ga. Told me I need to file an Interstate claim.

What I have done in the past is file with the office local to where you live. In your application you will be detailing who you worked for and how long. The state will collect off that state and if the state you live has a higher Benefit than the state you are collecting against, they typically cover the difference. As I said... personal experience there dealing with two non-adjoining states. In my Case filing in PA against a VA work history.

No, you would file in GA, they would access your records from a national data using the info that you give them and would have filed the claim. You would receive benefits at the level of the state where you worked, works same if you have so many months of work at one location and the other.

Other factors, what caused you to leave you last job, were you fired, or did you quit, if fired, did they object to the filing and you merely needed to appeal.

But you just file with the local office for a claim to be interstate
