I recently got the implanion, birth control inserted in your arm. They told me my insurance will pay for it but after I got it done they told me I had to pay 62 dollars. Is that how much my insurance isn't paying? How long do I have before they turn it over to the collection agency?

If they said you got to pay it... then you have got to pay it. Its only $62. Pay it. How long before they come after you will vary. But it could be in as little as 3 months, they USUALLY send you a bill, then two past due statements before turning it over to a collection agency and ruining your credit rating (which you might care more about if you knew it means higher car insurance, higher credit and loan interest rates, and could keep you from getting a job).

Birth control is indeed covered by law (unless you work for a religous organization or privately-owned business whose owner claims an objection to it). It can be free with no copay but only if you use the generic pills that your insurance company covers. If you use a different form of birth contriol, or non-generic pills, there is most likely a co-pay required. So yes, you will have to pay the $62. But just to be sure - I suggest you call the insurance company and ask how they arrived at the $62 figure.

Your insurance carrier is required to send you a statement of benefits. This statement will detail how much the Physician charged, what the carrier allowed, how much was paid of that amount and how much you owe.

Most offices will allow you to set up a payment plan if you can't cover the full cost at one time. Give them a call and see what can be arranged.
