    Question :about Asylum with I-130
Hello. I am from Haiti; after the earthquake I escaped from the country because people was after me and I was vulnerable since I slept in the street with my family( I could get shot.. ) Now I came to USA and want to file for Asylum but my wife's sister filed an I-130 for her. Can I still apply for asylum?

To qualify for PA in the US, you need to show a "well-founded fear of persecution" from your home country government or a group your home country government cannot or will not control and that persecution is based on religion, race, nationality, social group or political opinion.

Based on the information in your post, your persecution is not based on any of the protected groups. It seems as if it is a generalized country condition and not you individually or as a member of a group. You can certainly file affirmatively, but I would recommend you consult with an experienced PA attorney to see if your case has merit. Good luck to you.
