    Marriage
    Hello,

I am french and I moved to California 2 years ago with a J-1 Visa. I am currently in relationship with an American (1year in April) and we are thinking about getting married.
If we do get married, after the ceremony at the city hall, what should I do about my status?

Should I apply for a green card or a new visa? If yes, which kind of documents should I get and fill up, and where to obtain them?
I heard about an interview, to make sure that our wedding is not a fake one, should I book an appointment and where?

As you can see I don t know anything about the procedure... I try to find some answer in the internet but I didn't t find what I was looking for, maybe you could help me?

I am really looking forward to hear from you and I will sincerely appreciate your help,
    Thank you

Make sure you are not subject to 2 years rule on J-1, or you will have to file a waiver or return to your home country for visa interview.
