International student applying for a social security
I am an international student and recently I got a job on campus. Before I can start working I need a social security. To get one I'll need to provid a valid I-20, a valid I-94, a valid pasport, and proof of work eligibility. My problem is my pasport has expired and it takes 6-8 weeks to get another one. By this time the work position will have been taken. I really need this job because I have pending bills to pay. Plus it will take approximately two weeks to get the social security after getting the renewed pasport. My question is, is it possible for them to accept the expired passport as a valid passport? And the Kenyan embassy in washinton offers Emergency Certificates, so is it possible to use that as a valid passport?
