    H-1B Visa
    Hello,

    I have a question regarding H-1B visa. Assuming my employer files H-1 on April 1, 2011, how long will it take to get approved? How soon can I travel back to India to get the visa stamped? I am looking to travel and right now I don't have a valid visa. I am currently on OPT which will expire in May.

    File with premium processing and expect a response in 15 days, but remember a file date of April 1, 2011 has a FY2012 job start date of October 1, 2011. Can enter on the visa 10 days prior. If your OPT expires in May, you need to stay outside US after that or extend your OPT if possible, STEM?

    Thanks NYcityboy. I can get STEM extension on my OPT for 17 months. Can you clarify what you said about the visa? Did you mean that I can only get the visa 10 days before October 1, 2011?
