    Dual Citizenship/Marriage/SSI Benefits
I hope I have chosen the proper category to ask this question. I've noticed a few other similar questions, but the answers were not relevant to my situation.
I am a 53 year old woman who began receiving SSI benefits in June of 2011. I am planning on moving to the UK in October of this year and marrying a UK citizen in November. Can I apply for dual citizenship and if so, what are the specific guidelines that must be met or followed in order to keep receiving my meager SSI benefits? If I AM able to continue to receive the benefits, will it be for the full amount or a portion? How will the marriage affect my benefits? My future husband is currently receiving welfare benefits from the UK also. I have tried to discuss this with four different workers at the SS office, but of course, I am getting four differing answers.
Thanks so much for any help or advice anyone can offer.

If you move out of the USA your SSI benefits should be terminated. You would not be able to "double dip" like you are planning on doing. There are plenty of programs in England that should be able to take up the slack in your income once you are a UK citizen or married to one. Your future spouse is already receiving benefits and he could more than likely add you onto his benefits.

And if it is found out that you moved out of this country and they keep paying you the SSI checks, you may be required to pay back all the money they paid you.

I know that if you collect SSR and you move out of the US you must notify the SS office - even if you plan on moving back to the US. In some cases you CAN still collect your SSR and in other cases you can't (it is all determined which country you are residing in outside of the US).
