    Checking my personal records?
I was off work on the Friday just gone, and my employer wants to check with my practice nurse too see why I was off.
To be honest I never went to see the nurse and I am now really quite worried as to what might happen. Has this ever happened to anyone else because I don't know what I should do, any help please :(

If the nurse or the doctor tells your employer anything about your health it would be a HIPPA voilation, I doubt if they would say anything. Most health professionals take HIPPA very seriously.

The nurse cannot give out any health information as the above poster stated due to governmental regualtions.

The nurse can say if you came to see her or not, that is not a violation as it contains no medical information.

If he checks and finds out you did not go than he can terminate you for not telling the truth. You probably should tell him that you were ill but didn't feel it was serious enough to seek medical treatment so you decided not to see the nurse after all and just stay home and rest so you could be well to come back to work.
