    Wireless and Outdoor Speakers
I am thinking of setting up a wireless speaker system outside in my yard. All of my speakers and stereo system is downstairs in my basement but I want to be able to hear the music in my backyard which is about 1 acre in size when I have barbecues.

Do I need to buy outdoor speakers and attach to a wireless system? Or can I use the speakers that I have in the basement and attach to a wireless system? I need help with the best option so that the music that will be played downstairs can be heard upstairs and outside.

    Please let me know

    Thanks

I use wireless speakers with my PC so I don't have to run wires across the room for Surround Sound.

I'm assuming you are looking for more than just what you'd get from a portable FM radio or iPod. The range on most dedicated transmitters is about 300ft, probably insufficient to reach the boundaries of your acre of land.

If you plan on leaving the speakers outdoors full-time, you'll need "outdoor speakers" that are weather resistant. Regular household speakers will be ruined by the heat/rain/humidity/dust they'll be exposed to outdoors.

Also, the further your receiver(s) is/are from the transmitter, the more prone they'll be to interference, producing lots of static in the output.

If you are REALLY determined to get audio out in your yard, you'll need a your audio source (radio or other receiver) to be nearby. Most wireless speakers will die a slow painful death if you crank them up to maximum volume so you still hear them from someplace relatively nearby.

I'd need more detail for a more specific response. Hope this helps.
