    Television picture problems?
    I have a big black rectangular box on my screen - the remaining screen has a picture

    Turn off the picture in picture function that many tv's have... its called PIP on the remote.

    It could also be closed captioning. Make sure your CC is turned off both on the TV and any cable or satellite box if you have one.
