Is It Possible? If so, what will I need?
I have over 1000 movies. I was wondering if I can buy an external Hard Drive (say 500G)and load them in there. How would I connect this Hard drive to a TV so I can acess my movies instantly. Is that even possible?

Oh I have a really old TV and thinking of purchasing on new one for this set up. If it is possible to connect the hard drive to my TV. What kind of TV should I look into?

Try this, don't think you can get away without a computer. Maybe?
    I would try this:
Denzel TP420-SD Home Theater Media Server | Home Entertainment
Also try googling "home theater video server"

Look at the HP MediaSmart Server and PCs. The server will act as a server on your home network. You can then put all your media on it (video, music, photos) on it. With a media smart TV you can them connect the TV to the server and stream your media to the TV.
