Have you tried rebooting your nano? Mine did the same thing last week and I thought it was toast.

Reboot by holding down the round centre circlel/button and "MENU" spot/button together for about 10 seconds. The Apple will appear on the screen. Then you may have to reinstall the default settings through iTunes.

Also - Have you updated the software on your iPod lately?

The newest versions of iTunes will also update the iPod firmware. If you haven't update your iTunes installation lately, you might want to go to the Apple website and download the latest version.

Well I don't know why it keeps freezing but to unfreeze it hold down the select and menu button at the same time until the screen goes black and a apple appears.

Look my iPod does the same thing and has been locked up for months I no this is the answer board but I don't see a point in reposting an old question I no all about the 3 rs the reset trick and all that but it won't work if the iPod is frozen that's the point in asking the question is there any other type of trick/download to fix this problem I have tried restoring it about a hundred times all to the same outcome. My ipods been freezing for a week and this time it wouldn't unfreeze, looked on the internet and found something that said you had to press the menu and select button together, pressed the menu and select button together and it came up with the apple sign. Then it came up with a weird view saying disk view. Searched and searched until I thought id try restoring the iPod settings on itunes. The disk view went and it went back to normal and I know I had to restore my previous settings but at least it worked. I know what to do if it happens again! Hope this helps someone
