    Hi,

Let's get a little more info here. What exactly are you trying to do? From your bare description its hard to get a feel for what the component layout should be.

The HD cable box should have a coax Input from the cable company, correct.

Now how are you connecting from the cable box? There are two ways, RGB ore "Component Video" and "Coax or Fiber Optic Audio" from the Cable receiver; Then there is the HDMI connection. This connection provides both Audio and Video

Next, look at the back of the DVD/VCR. Does it allow for Component video connection or is HDMI connector. By far the HDMI connects are the route to take, if the ports are on the units. Finally again, look at the "Out Put" ports, are they Component or HDMI?

Now the TV, does it have HDMI ports or Component ports. I'm biased on the side of the HDMI connection. Also. If you are using component video, you need to connect Audio through the cable receiver through the DVD and into the TV, unless you have a sound processor. Check the back of the DVD to see what form Audio Out must be , (fiber or coax) and from the DVD to the TV.

I hope I haven't added more mud to the situation, but if I did or you have additional questions please respond back to this item.
