    Your holiday getaway
    Hi

Can anyone confirm if this is a legitimate company.

I was cold called and infomed I had been selected for a discounted holiday as a result of using my credit card. I was asked for my credit card number so they could confirm I was the valid card holder to receive the discount, but that I would not be charged until after they subsequently sent through the paperwork.

I looked on line but could not establish if this was a legitimate compnay so I refused to give my details, as you always should!

However just trying to establish if this was a scam or not. Looks to me like it was.

Any help would be appreciated. They are based in the US

    Thanks!

I vote for scam, never give your card info out. If a legitimate company needs it for verification, the last 4 digits would be enough.

That should be your first clue to an attempted scam.

First if they know your number, they could have read you the last four numbers of it, and if they were doing this because of use of your credit card, they would have no trouble doing this, Since they asked you for your credit card number it is a fraud, and they will soon be trying to charge things to it.

Call your credit card company ASAP and see if any charges were done yet and have them cancell this credit card number and issue another

Hi, my name is Sarah. I just wanted to let you know that my husband and I, along with our two children have just returned from a vacation holiday in Cancun! What a fabulous time we had! We took Your Holiday Getaway's offer and we're glad we did! Boy did we eat and drink and since it was all-inclusive we ate as often and as much as we wanted without any extra charges! It is a good thing, I guess, that we can't afford to do this more than once a year because I would weigh 300 lbs! Lol But, I can't wait to do it again! However, there is one little catch, they told us about it but we didn't pay any attention at the time. We were required to sit through a 90 minute sales presentation. It is the reason that they are willing to pamper folks at such a ridiculously low cost! They know that many people are going to love it so much that they will be wanting to come back every year so they hope you will buy into an ongoing vacation plan. The presentation wasn't an issue at all, and the vacation was well worth the money we spent and sitting through the 90 minute presentation. IF you are looking for a great holiday getaway, I highly recommend "I am so stupid I will fall for any scam.com" They were very helpful throughout the experience. Great customer service! Hope this helps.

HookedonCancun, you're a riot! Thanks for the laugh. Nice try on the free advertising. LMAO!

Now I'll just report your post as advertising isn't allowed here, but it really was a good try to sneak it past us. Too bad we can read and have brains. :p

Sounds reasonable to me, That's the name of the company that called my wife one day talking about a special prize or we won something or other, I think that it was just a ploy to get her to listen, but anyway my wife went for it and we actually had a good time. It was a great trip. We went to the Dominican Republic via Orlando. The company was a little hard to reach at times but we got through to them eventually. Everything wasn't perfect but I don't expect perfection from any company anymore! I gave up on that a long time ago. The point is, it is NOT a scam. We had a good experience all in all and certainly got our money's worth!

    [QUOTE=;][/QUOTE Edit:: To myopinion.
]I have been on many "free" vacations and they were all worth it for what I expected. Nothing is true-ly "free" you just need to know what you are willing to put up with to get away for a short time.

The joke was that the OP seemed to be doing an advertisement:);)

    Again,

You don't win a vacation for using your credit card,

If they were really from the credit card company, they would know your card numbers.

So they are lying to start with, can it get better.

At the BEST, you will stay and be required to listen to a hard sale presentation for a time share, or club property or something.

At the worst and most likely, there is no vacation, they want your credit card info to steal from you.

The Holiday getaway is a scam, they called and said I won a Holiday to Mexico for 4. I Realized it was a scam so called my credit card company straight away and they had tried to claim 690 Pounds. It was cancelled because of my call. They had said I won the Holiday because of an accumulation of points on my credit card, after giving them the info they then said I did not have enough points and disconnected, that is when I called and cancelled my card. DO NOT give out information to them they are a SCAM!!

They prey on seniors. My mother-in-law got caught on the free trip scam. Oh, an $8,000 Caribbean trip that all you must pay is taxes of $998. Paperwork showed up a week later saying she bought 4 nights hotel in Orlando that she cannot use before March 2012 (when they are operating under a new name). We have reported them to police, BBB, and State of Florida where they are registered as Your Vacation Planner and Timeout for vacations. We suggested to Mastercard that we would go to media over their apathy over elederly abuse and the immediately credited the scammed funds back. She did need to sign an affadvit. Stay clear and never give your credit card over the phone.
