How advanced? Trigonometry? Algebra? Calculus?
For me, memory gets you nowhere in maths. The real learning comes from forming an understanding of why a method works and how best to use it. In this way you can apply abstract methods to a problem you have never seen before.

Okay so that sounds like precalculus to me. Many precalc topics are quite unintuitive and need you to get your mind around. The best way to learn any math is to practice a lot, doing lots of questions.

Do all of the homework problems your teacher assigns and more. If necessary, see your teacher for extra help after school. Also consider hiring a private tutor or making use of a commercial supplemental education center such as Sylvan. Seek out a peer tutor who could help you with your homework and such. You may not need to take all of these steps but any combination of one or more of these suggestions should get you on the right track.

My son goes to 2 pre calculus classes. He does his 1 that he gets a grade for and then sits in on one later in the day to get a better understanding of it.
