Why does the fan in my split system's condenser unit suddenly only run in reverse?
Hi. I have a split system heating/air system. A couple days ago I noticed that the unit was not cooling the house down and when I investigated the outdoor condenser unit was just making a buzzing noise. I shut the power off to it, waited a while and turned it back on. The compressor and fan started up but I noticed that the fan only runs in reverse now. So I shut it back down. Does anyone know what is going on and how I can repair it?
    Thanks for your help.

Could be fan motor or capacitor/motor. Replacing the fan motor/capacitor WILL fix it. Replacing the cap MIGHT fix it.
