    White-Rodgers Thermostat Type# 1F89-11 Auxiliary Light going Off/On
Is there a way to shut off the auxiliary light? It's costing me high electric bills, and it's coming on when it shouldn't and causing my heat pump to continually run during the winter time. I keep my thermostat temperature set at 65 to 67 degrees in the winter and in the summer it's set at 73 to 75 degrees. You can email me at [email protected] and let me know.

    Thanks! Marcia

It's not the light that is costing you money--the light is just an indicator that your heat pump is not able to maintain the set temperature (and therefore energizing [auxiliary] electric heating elements).

You should make sure your filters are clean, the compressor unit outside is clear of debris, vegetation, etc. and after those are okay you may need to call a serviceman to check the freon in your system. A service call will cost you something, but it should reduce your electricity costs going forward.

    Hope this helps,
