where should i turn to learn more about a/c.i have 7yrs install and 2 yrs service exp
I am a lead install tech for an air conditioning company and I would like to learn more than the general applications of this industry. I have 7 years total experience installing systems with 2 years of service also. However, I am considered to be very knowledgeable at this company, but I feel I still don't know enough of the technical aspects. For example, load calculations, proper cfm requirements, duct design, subcooling and superheat, diagnosing variable speed motors, 2-stage and dual compressors, etc. I live in southwest Florida.

Books, classes. Get Nate certified, find a manual D and manual J class. BPI (building performance institute) http://www.bpi.org/ has good classes.
TheDealerToolbox.com - Home - Your One-Stop HVAC and Commercial Refrigeration Resource has classes and info on ECM motors. National Comfort Institute Inc. : Performance-Based Contracting : Air Balancing & Diagnostics Certification Seminar has great classes on air balancing, total system analysis, air balancing and CO. Oh, I almost forgot another great source http://www.acca.org/ here you can find many books for Manual J and manual D. plus much more. Your local library can probably get many of these books for you if you just know what to ask for, good luck on your continued education. I'm currently working on a good power point presentation for superheat and subcooling, but work load has been so heavy with this summers heat wave I'm far from done with it.
